Salt, Sand, Sleep and Tears

What am I doing up at 5 am? I couldn't sleep, so I thought I would blog a little! We just came back from one of my most favorite places in the world! The beach! We went to Navarre Florida for my daughter's graduation. The first day we were there we had to go to PCC and find out about the graduation activities. The second day was graduation practice and later Beth's graduation. It was a beautiful ceremony! I was crying before she even walked into the door! I was crying because I was happy, sad and proud all at the same time! Then, when she did walk in, she looked at me and I squalled again! I am so proud of all my children! Before we knew it, the graduation was over. Now, we could relax and enjoy the rest of our vacation! Every day I couldn't wait for the sun to rise! As soon as it was day light I was up! Had to open the curtain and enjoy the beautiful view! the weather wasn't perfect while we were there. It was kinda cool and windy almost every day. We couldn't wait to get out feet in the white sand and beautiful Aqua water! The pool was warm and wonderful as well! We had some great food while we were there too! The condo we stayed in was beautiful, comfortable and amazing too! I loved my soft, comfortable bed! Since I woke up early, I was amazed to see the dolphins! They were teasing me by not jumping way up! I had to wake the children up because I didn't want them to miss it! One day, we went to see the Blue Angels practice! That was so awesome! We went to the Naval and Aviation Museum as well! It is awesome! I love lighthouses! So far, I have climbed three. Cape Henry in Virginia, The St. Simon's Lighthouse in Georgia, and last but not least, The Pensacola Lighthouse! It was 177 steps up and 177 back down! It was great exercise and my legs were so sore! But the view at the top was worth it!Then, it seemed, we went to sleep and woke up and it was time to come home. We had a wonderful time! I never wanted to leave the beautiful ocean but there is no place like home!

My First Bike!

When I was about 6 years old, I asked my Daddy for a bike. My daddy built my first bike with love in his hands. He built it from scraps of other bikes. It was metallic blue with green sparkly handle bars and a green banana seat! I loved that bike! I rode it and rode it! One day I decided I wanted to ride without training wheels. My big brother, Ricky, said he would teach me. He held onto the back for awhile. Then, I turned around and Ricky was way back yonder! Of course I fell and cried. Ricky helped me get up and kissed my boo boos. Eventually, I learned to ride without falling. Happy happy times! The bike in the picture looks similar to mine but not identical.

Spring Will Come!

I am a snow lover! This has been the longest, coldest, wettest winter! So, I am ready for spring! Ready for blue skies and sunshine! I should be thankful for all the seasons He gives me! I shouldn't mumble and complain! So, I do love the beautiful snow in the winter! I love the sunshine in spring! I love swimming in summer and the beautiful leaves in the fall! I look forward to spring, to hearing the robins sing and seeing the flowers bloom! The earth comes back to life just like Our Lord did on the third day!

A Special Visit!

I was so very blessed to share a visit with my brother, his sweet wife and their daughter, Katie! It was so grand to see them all! We laughed and talked, looked at photo albums. We even played foot ball! It was so cold while they were here! I am so blessed that they got to visit. Although their time here flew by, I am still so thankful! They have moved up North where it snows a lot. I am sure they are enjoying that! Well, I gotta go get ready for bed. Hug the ones you love with all of your might! Don't take them for granted!

I Have Been Blessed

Flying a Kite on a Windy Day!

My brother, Ricky, really can fly a kite! He was about ten and I was around five! He had a classic, yellow Diamond shaped kite. He would get it high up in the sky! So high you could barely just see it! He would help me get my Holly Hobbie kite up in the air. We would stand there and watch them soar in the wind for hours! Ricky was my hero and he still is! He always played all the games well and caught all the fish. I wanted to be just like him!Thank you Ricky for playing games with your little sister, teaching me how to fish and fly a kite. thank you for letting me tag along! What great brothers and sisters I have!

Happiness, Old Man Winter and Snow!

It was fairly warm here the other day. Saturday night it rained, then all of a sudden, the wind began to blow and the bottom fell out of the thermometer! It snowed some here but not real deep. We mostly got a dusting but the roads were pretty icy for awhile. My oldest daughter took her Nursing final. She was real nervous about it! I am so happy that she passed nursing with a B! Praise God for this! This morning I awoke to realize the power was off! It was 14 degrees! Thankfully, we have a kerosene heater which we used. It had been a couple of years since we had to use the heater. You never know when the power will go out. It is better to have supplies and be prepared. The power finally came back on and we didn't freeze to death! My FIL brought me some coffee! Always can count on him! They are calling for ice tomorrow night. I pray the power doesn't go off!

Santa, gold coins and a Shimmering tree!

We had a big, silver Christmas tree when I was a little girl. I loved to watch the pretty lights as they shimmered on the tree! It was magical! My Mama Dot also had a silver Christmas tree but hers was a table top. We still have the table top tree. We put it up almost every year! I have my Daddy's Christmas stocking. It is very old! I remember my brother, Bubba, giving me gold coins for Christmas! They were chocolate! I remember one year I heard a knock at the door! It was Santa Claus! He had a bag full of toys! I couldn't believe Santa actually came to my house! I later found out that Santa was actually my Daddy dressed up!

The Best Christmas!

When I was about Six years old, I wanted a special doll for Christmas! On Christmas morning my dreams came true! Some how Santa managed to get that Dolly for me! My Daddy made me a beautiful, wooden cradle for my doll! My Mama Dot lovingly sewed the baby bed cushion, soft and silky! I would have rather had that Hand made Christmas present then all the store bought ones money could buy! My Daddy built that cradle with love and that was the best Christmas of all! At that time, my Daddy had never been saved, but he always taught me Christmas wasn't really about the presents or the tree. It was the Birth of Jesus! My Daddy did get saved before he died. My brother, Ricky helped lead him to the Lord. My Daddy is gone now but his love will live on. The cradle in this picture is similar to the one my Daddy crafted with love so many years ago. My cradle was red though.
