Country Girl Down on the Farm

When I saw this picture, I knew I had to blog about it! This makes me drift back in time. I am a little girl in my Grandmother's kitchen! Oh how I love the smell of the wood burning stove!

This picture takes me back to my old home place in Virginia. I can just feel the sand under my feet as I see my home in the distance!

When I look at this picture, I just want to go explore this old barn Like I did as a young girl. I never will forget the time I narrowly escaped the charging bull!

I love this picture! I love to look at the beauty that God paints the morning and evening skies!

Oh the happy times that we have had in that old, country cabin in the holler!

I can just see my Mama sitting in this chair, reading by the lamp light.

The blog would not be complete without the cowboys that my Grandmother wrote about.

As I look at the picture, I dream I am walking through the field of wild flowers. And then I see it! The old home place! I run as fast as I can and run up the steps! There sits Mama rocking on the porch!

I know I am home when I see all the boots on the porch!

Love the red barn with the beautiful, American Flag!

oh the feeling of accomplishment after a long days work on the farm! The sun is about to set and supper is on the table! Mama comes outside and rings the bell for all the hands to come in!

The house is empty now but in the distance I can still hear the laughter of the children as the wind blows through the prairie.

Seasons!

I love something about all four seasons! In the Winter I love the beautiful snow! I also love the smell of a wood stove burning and the cool, crisp mornings!

I love the beautiful flowers in the Spring! I love how everything comes back to life!

In Summer I love the beach! I love swimming and sitting on the porch. I love to watch the hummingbirds too!

I love so much about the Fall! I love the beautiful colors! I love the camp fires, the cool breezes that blow. I love when a new school year starts! I love the way the air smells too!

Oh the Joys of all the Toys!

When I was a little girl, I loved Holly Hobbie! I had a small plastic Holly Hobbie pool! I spent many a hot summer day cooling it in that pool! Oh the joys of childhood!

I remember one year for Christmas, I got a Strawberry Shortcake doll! I loved the way she smelled!

Oh the Barbies I had as a girl!  I wish I had pictures of all the Barbies I had! Here is a beautiful one!

I never will forget my first Baby Alive! I loved to feed her and change her diapers!

One year for Christmas, I wanted a new baby Doll. I also wanted a baby bath to give her a bath in. She came complete with a tiny little bar of Ivory soap and Johnson's  baby powder. That year my Daddy made a wooden doll cradle for me. My Grandmother had stitched to cushion for my doll cradle. The best gifts are made with love!

One of my favorite toys as a child was my Little people doll house. I could carry it with me where ever I went!

I loved my toys but I really loved to play with my brother's toys too!

late in the evening, as the sun went down, we would go outside and play in the dirt!

I had a lot of dolls. One of my favorite dolls was a grow hair doll! She could have long hair and she could have short hair.

When I got older, I wanted to learn how to fix hair and put make up on! I loved my makeover Barbie!

last but not least was my Sony Walkman! I was so happy when one Christmas, my second Mom, Brenda bought me this! I was the happiest girl in the world!

Water Water Every where!

I have always loved water! I wanted to learn how to swim!  My brother in law taught me how and I taught myself! I went to Lake Chesden and started swimming under the water first.  Then, in Florida one year, I started swimming on top of the water. I loved it! By the time my girls were 4 and 7, we had a 15 by 3.5 above ground pool. So, every Summer for 14 years, we swim almost every day!

Kitty Kisses

There are few things in life more heartwarming than to be welcomed by a cat.  ~Tay Hohoff

If animals could speak, the dog would be a blundering outspoken fellow; but the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much.  ~Mark Twain

Kittens kittens everywhere
Kittens chewing on my hair
Kittens climbing up my jeans
Kittens hanging from the screens
There's a kitten on each shoulder
Will they do this when they're older?

Kittens fighting on the chairs
Kittens tumbling down the stairs
There's a kitten on my head
There's a kitten in the bread!
There's a kitten in my shoe
I don't believe we just have two!

To My Mom & Dad With Love (A Cat's Eulogy)

December 2007

Don't be sad you had to end my pain,
and know that you will see me once again.
God's given me a place to wait for you,
and you know what? He says He loves me too!

There's lots of different critters all around,
in Heaven there's no evil to be found.
So all of us just seem to get along,
and Angels serenade us with their songs.

People here are kind they stroke my fur,
and they all seem to love it when I purr.
I'm no longer sick so I am glad,
please don't fill your days by being sad.

I haven't really gone that far away,
and I'm really looking forward to the day,
that we can be together up above,
in this land of peace and happiness and love.

Precious Memories

I had a great childhood! Yes, there were some sad times but also very happy ones! Some of my favorite memories are times I spent with my brother! We would play games together like Go to the Head of the Class! I really learned a lot playing that game! I remember getting up early in the morning and going to Mama Dot's house. I remember she taught me how to sew. She read to me from the Bible and taught me about God. I loved playing with my brother's toys! He had a G.I. Joe! I used to go outside late in the evening and play with the Tonka Toys in the dirt! We had a Stretch Armstrong and Rockem Sockem Robots. We would walk on the breast works behind our house for hours and hours! My brother was my best friend!

Salt, Sand, Sleep and Tears

What am I doing up at 5 am? I couldn't sleep, so I thought I would blog a little! We just came back from one of my most favorite places in the world! The beach! We went to Navarre Florida for my daughter's graduation. The first day we were there we had to go to PCC and find out about the graduation activities. The second day was graduation practice and later Beth's graduation. It was a beautiful ceremony! I was crying before she even walked into the door! I was crying because I was happy, sad and proud all at the same time! Then, when she did walk in, she looked at me and I squalled again! I am so proud of all my children! Before we knew it, the graduation was over. Now, we could relax and enjoy the rest of our vacation! Every day I couldn't wait for the sun to rise! As soon as it was day light I was up! Had to open the curtain and enjoy the beautiful view! the weather wasn't perfect while we were there. It was kinda cool and windy almost every day. We couldn't wait to get out feet in the white sand and beautiful Aqua water! The pool was warm and wonderful as well! We had some great food while we were there too! The condo we stayed in was beautiful, comfortable and amazing too! I loved my soft, comfortable bed! Since I woke up early, I was amazed to see the dolphins! They were teasing me by not jumping way up! I had to wake the children up because I didn't want them to miss it! One day, we went to see the Blue Angels practice! That was so awesome! We went to the Naval and Aviation Museum as well! It is awesome! I love lighthouses! So far, I have climbed three. Cape Henry in Virginia, The St. Simon's Lighthouse in Georgia, and last but not least, The Pensacola Lighthouse! It was 177 steps up and 177 back down! It was great exercise and my legs were so sore! But the view at the top was worth it!Then, it seemed, we went to sleep and woke up and it was time to come home. We had a wonderful time! I never wanted to leave the beautiful ocean but there is no place like home!
